On June 10, 1948, Bill was married to Alice LaPlant at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He worked for Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company for a brief period of time.
Following his discharge, he returned to Grand Rapids and worked as a custodian for Central School. He was a custodian for School District 318 for 29 1/2 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the Pokegama Dancing Club, all of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; two daughters, Peggy (Ernie) Thomas and Jerelyn (Mike) Rieger; a son David (Peggy); three brothers, Dick (Nancy), Donald (Jean), and Larry (Barb); a sister, Edith (Bob) Underwood; a sister-in-law, Eva Bishop; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roger in 1982; his parents; three brothers, Wayne, Ralph, and Phil; and a twin sister, Betty Shannon.
Buried in Harris Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot 2.44.3.8)
