He attended school in the Adams area and went to work for the Hormel Foods Corporation in July, 1936.
Oswald married Bernice Rogers on January 21, 1939 at Austin.
He returned to Austin after the war and worked at the Hormel Company until retiring on September 30, 1976.
He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Moose Club.
Following his wife's death, he moved to St. Cloud, Minnesota in 1984 and to Deer River, Minnesota in 2001.
Oswald was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; brothers, Bernard and Art; and sisters, Ruth McNamara and Alice Krokus.
He is survived by his sons, Roger and Robert; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Bliton, Irene Hurd, and Madiline Cockrum; brothers, Harold, Morry, Bill, and Myron; and nieces and nephews.
Oswald died at Deer River Health Care Center in Deer River, Minnesota. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery at Austin, Minnesota. (Section 9, south half of Plot 3907)
