Joseph entered West Point Academy, was a radio operator flying over Europe in World War II, and finished his last tour of duty stationed in Formosa (now Taiwan).
He was an air traffic controller at Dulles and O'Hare airports, finishing his career at the airport in Hibbing, Minnesota.
During his retirement years, Joe was an avid gardener at his Deer Lake home and many people stopped to enjoy his beautiful
flower gardens.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters, Ethel Longrie and Mary Ellen; and one brother, Bob. He is survived by a sister, Holly Kannas; an aunt, Laddie Pearson; nephews, Jere Longrie, Bruce Longrie, Jeff Longrie, Ronald Kannas, Larry Buchanan, and Robert Buchanan; nieces, Diana Longrie, Holley Buchanan, and Mary Buchanan; and special friends, Randy and Nancy Curtis.
Joseph died at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-E-09-1-3)
