Greg enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country honorably in Vietnam.
Greg joined the South Dakota Army National Guard. He received pilot instruction at Fort Rucker, Alabama in April, 1983 and finished his remaining years in the National Guard with the 1085th Medical Detachment as a medevac pilot until 1994, when he retired at the rank of Major.

Greg grew up in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and graduated from high school. He attended junior college until enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.
Following his discharge, he returned to school and studied Kinesiology at Mankato State College. He was offered a position at Fort Meade and moved with his family to South Dakota in March, 1972.
Greg retired from Fort Meade as an Occupational Health and Safety Program Manager for the engineering department in April, 2005.
Greg was an outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt, and anything else that took him outdoors. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his sons, Vaughn, Matthew (Lori); Jonathan (Amanda), and Tom; two brothers, Russell and Wayne (Carol); two sisters, Nancy (Tom) Moran, Teddi (Reggie) Sellick; and four grandchildren.
Greg died at his residence near Sturgis, South Dakota. Inurnment was at the Black Hills National Cemetery. (Section Q, Plot 367)
