Crit enlisted in the United States Army doing tours during World War II and two tours during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the military after twenty years of service.

After Crit's military service, he became a United States Police Officer with the State Department of Security.
He met Ruth C. Quiel in Washington, D.C. in 1946 where she was a State Department Bureau Chief for 31 years. They married in 1962, both retired from government service in 1970 and moved to the Johnson Lake area of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. They spent the summers in Grand Rapids and the winters in Alabama.
He is survived by two sons, Crit D. Graham, Jr. and Cecil Ray Graham; two daughters, Lola Mae Talley and Betty Sue Gray; a brother, Ernest; a sister, Minnie Alice Hicks; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery at Hibbing, Minnesota. (Block 3, Lot 31, GR 1 NW 1/4) No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
