Orvie enlisted in the United States Army. He served with Minnesota Company A, 4th Provisional Regiment in France during World War I.

Orvie worked as a barber in International Falls, Minnesota for a short time after the war and had been agent for the Equitable Life Assurance Society for the past 40 years. He was a Grand Rapids insurance agent for the past 23 years.
Orvie was a member of the Reed Methodist Church and it's Men Club in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Terri; three brothers, Ray, Ralph, and Floyd; three sisters, Mrs. Leo Brunette, Mrs. Glenn Haines, and Mrs. Alman Mauney.
Orvie died at his home and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-B-04-0-7)
