George was a veteran of the European Theater in World War II.

George moved with his family to Bena, Minnesota in 1932, where they started Camp Owatonna with a boat landing on Big Winnie, which was later named Denny's Resort.
He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a teenager.
George was a longtime member of the American Legion in Cass Lake, Minnesota and the Mississippi Headwaters Board.
He owned and operated Denny's Resort for many years. He retired in 1989 and moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
George is survived by his wife, Mayfred; four sons, Jeff (Rebecca), Bruce (Brenda), Craig (Amy), and Dean; his brother, Richard; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bernadine, Dorothy, and Arlene; and two nephews.
George died in Duluth, Minnesota and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery at Cass Lake, Minnesota. No photo of grave marker is available at this time.
