Edward served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force as a radio operator in the B-59 bombers.
As an engineer, Edward worked for the United States Army Department of Defense. He retired in 1990 as a civilian employee of the United States Army.
Edward was also a member of the Minnesota National Guard.

As an engineer, Edward worked for IBM, Boeing, Honeywell, and the United States Army Department of Defense.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, trapping, berry picking and living on the lake, good humor, playing cribbage with the grandkids, and "building airplanes".
Edward kept in touch with his Swedish relatives. He visited Sweden multiple times and entertained many relatives from Sweden who were visiting Minnesota.
Edward married Elaine E. Rinell, also from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and was the father of four children.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elna (Duane) Rolfson.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine; and children, Eileen (Howard) Mooney, Edward (Cindy), Eugene (Susan), and Ellen (Bill) Best. He is also survived by his two brothers, John (Diane) and David; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Edward died at Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery at Grand Rapids, Minnesota. (Plot I-C-27-23)
