Chris lived in California, Oregon and Colorado and moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota in 1986. He married Becky Gandrud on April 20, 1988 and had just celebrated their 20th anniversary the day before he died.
Chris worked for North Homes, Inc. as an advocate and counselor for youth in our community and schools for over twenty years. He made an impact on many children's lives through his mentorship and counseling. Chris enjoyed spending time with family, walking his dogs, playing card games on the computer, watching westerns, morning coffee at McDonald's with his "coffee buddies" and Friday lunches at Mad Dogs with family and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Ogelthorpe; his stepfather Garrett Ogelthorpe, his father Stephen Edwards, and his father-in-law Gehard Gandrud.
He is survived by his wife, Becky, and their children; Dawn (Tom) Johnson, Michael (Amy) Heinlein, Rachel (Steve) Gardner, Keith (Stacy) Heinlein, and Sally (Chris) Kaml. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: his brothers, Stephen Edwards, Matthew (Priscilla) Edwards and Andrew Rames; his sister, Mary Louise Edwards; and mother-in-law, Vernice Gandrud. Chris is survived by his many nieces, nephews, close friends, and his beloved dogs, Holly and Tobie.
Chris passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Chris battled a long, hard fight with cancer after being diagnosed exactly one year prior to the date of his death. Chris is buried in Richfield Lutheran Cemetery at Richwood Township in Becker County, Minnesota.
