Spud Meyer returned to Grand Rapids, Minnesota after completing his service in the U.S. Army. He worked various jobs which included Rapids Tire and Heating for his father, Grand Rapids Public Utilities, driving taxi in Grand Rapids, and on construction as a laborer. He was active in Alcoholics Anonymous for many years.
Spud died in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and is buried in Itasca Calvary Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Minnesota (IB1732). He is survived by his mother, Hope Meyer; sisters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Dowell, Carol Meyer, Beverly Bendel, and Wendy Meyer; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his father Frederic in 1975 and a sister, Judy Meyer in 1941.
