Gus Mollergren married Susan Jane Field in Kansas City, Kansas in 1945. They lived in Grand Rapids, Minnesota for a short time, moving in the 1950s to Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota, where Gus worked for Larson Boat Factory. They moved to Albert Lea in 1957 where Gus worked for Weyerhauser as a foreman for 25 years. He also worked for a number of years at Rilco before retiring due to his health. Gus enjoyed woodworking, reading, and working in his garden. He was active in Junior Achievement when he worked for Weyerhauser. He loved sports and was an avid Vikings, Twins and Gophers fan.
Gus died in Albert Lea, Minnesota and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albert Lea, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Johnson, Nancy (Steven) Hanson, Jennifer (Scott) McConnell, and Marcella (Scott) Hunter; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank (Evelyn) Mollergren and Leslie Mollergren; one sister, Elsie Jane Miksza; many nieces; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents.
